The town of Guildford is a very rich one in terms of culture and history. The buildings that can be seen in Guildford are monuments that remind people about the majestic past that this town has had. The roads and alleyways of Guildford, especially in the High Street go back to decades in the past. Certainly, the roads of Guildford have been enhanced as the town is visited by many tourists all year round. But the rock paved roads down the High Street have been conserved to remind people that Guildford is indeed a historic place.
Guildford is as well a town where the nature is respected and preserved. There are many farmers in Guildford. In fact, a farmers’ market is even organized once per month so that people in the locality can discover and buy home grown and home made goods. As such, a famous historical place in Guildford is the Sutton Place. Sutton Place had been once the home of the billionaire, Paul Getty. This house was owned by many people since its erection in the 16th century. Besides, just outside Guildford, one could see the Clandon Park estate. In the centre of the park stands a house. The house is owned by the Onslow family since it was built in the year 1730.
The estate boasts to have one of the most old fashioned and charming villages ever seen. The houses are built in stone and are linked with winding roads making their ways through trees. Even if the estate is outside Guildford, one would most certainly want to have a look during his trip. Foxes and deers live on the estate grounds making this whole area outside of Guildford look unique and beautiful. When you look at Guildford, it is incredible to see that the town has managed to keep most of its beauty and charm. One may even learn something new each time he goes to Guildford. The history of Guildford is packed with many things, to learn and to appreciate. A step back in time would undoubtedly bring before you the majestic past of Guildford.
The history of Guildford can still be felt through the monumental giants that still stand on firm ground in the form of castles, homes, restaurants, hotels and cathedrals. This said, the inhabitants of Guildford know and love the history of their beloved town. The town of Guildford is continuing to expand and grow. But special care is taken not to shadow the monumental landmarks with modernization. This is something really difficult to do. History is what makes the power of Guildford. As such, more and more tourists may be visiting Guildford every year to have a good look at the town and most essentially to discover about its history.
In the next 5 to 10 years, Guildford would have become and extremely modern and sophisticated town. The number of tourists visiting Guildford would have almost doubled. But the history and valuable monuments of Guildford should always be preserved.
