Ahmad Dabboussi is very well-known in the Sydney community in more ways than one. He has made countless contributions to the community that many people may not know about. He has contributed in various community activities and civic events within Sydney and neighbouring sub-urbs. He believes that community groups have a large role to play in building a community that is strong, healthy, vibrant and happy. Moreover, he knows that only a safe and happy community can produce individuals who are productive, efficient and goal-oriented.
The City of Sydney alone has over 200 community organizations, all aimed towards cultural development and community service. These organizations present a wide and diverse range of projects and activities to support an equally diverse array of community groups which include children, women, seniors, and indigenous people. They also support the homeless, the vulnerable, the disabled, local talents and aspiring artists.
Ahmad Dabboussi has always been impressed with the noble work being continually done by these community service organizations. Mr. Ahmad Dabboussi has always had the urge to be with people, to expose himself to people of different status and situation, and to help those who are in need. In his younger days, he wished to join civic organizations. However, he was led to a different career path. Even if this is so, his burning desire to help the community and to contribute to the betterment of the city never really died out.
Throughout his career and his very own little ways, Ahmad Dabboussi expressed his interest in helping the community most especially through these community organizations.
He realized that the only way that these groups can carry out each of their objectives for the community, they needed funds. In reality, each legitimate community group in Sydney gets about $100,000 in funding per year. However, in most cases, this budget allotment given by the city Government of Sydney is not enough to cover all the expenses used up in their projects. Having realized this, Mr. Ahmad Dabboussi has made significant efforts to contribute to their funding.
Mr. Ahmad Dabboussi loves the whole community life in Sydney. He specifically likes community festivals and the Arts, and has shown continuous support to community groups who make them a reality. He is also an active supported of the Australian Red Cross New South Wales. He has also long been an advocate of this cause, persuading colleagues and fellow financiers to make their own contributions.
Also, Mr. Ahmad Dabboussi continues to encourage his subordinates to not fall into the prey of apathy towards the community. As Ahmad Dabboussi puts it, all of us can make significant contributions to the community in our own little ways. It does not have to be as grand as donating a thousand dollars or being part of bi-weekly community meetings. However, the main yearning to keep the community safe and happy, and starting from within can make a big difference. If each individual in Sydney does his or her own part, imagine how even greater our city will be! |
