| Steroid Side Effects |

It is common knowledge that many of those massive guys whose photos adorn bodybuilding and men’s muscle magazines got to look that way by incorporating a steroid regime in their training.
However what is not generally acknowledged is that these guys also have expert knowledge and sometimes good medical supervision over the effects of steroids.
A novice who wants to develop massive muscle gains with a ripped look in a relatively short space of time should avoid the temptation of rushing straight into a steroid enhanced training routine without first making themselves aware of the possible steroid side effects.
The seven most common steroid side effects are:
Acne: Mainly prevalent on the upper back and shoulders. This is a result of an increase in oil production in the skin glands. Zits and whiteheads can also appear anywhere on the body.
Gynecomastia: The development of feminine breast characteristics (or man boobs) with increased sensitivity of the male nipples. There have been extreme cases reported of men lactating. The primary cause of this particular steroid side effect is an increase in the estrogen level produced in the user’s body.
Impotence: At the commencement of steroid use there is likely to be an increase in sexual interest but where incorrect dosages have been used there is the possibility of the testicles shrinking and the user’s sperm count becoming dormant.
Liver damage: This is predominately associated with taking steroids orally as opposed to injecting them. It becomes harder for the liver to break down the orally digested steroid thus limiting the liver cells function in extracting bile. A sign of this is a yellowing of the whites of the eyes. In extreme cases this can lead to Jaundice which is obviously a very serious condition.
Baldness: Where there is evidence that an individual has a genetic predisposition to baldness there is the likelihood of this being speeded up. Conversely, another effect of steroids can be an increase of hair growth on the body and face. A factor that was evident in some of the early female field athletes from the former Soviet Union.
Aggression: Whether an increase in aggression is an effect of steroids is open to debate although the fact that the expression ‘roid rage’ is within common usage may support this. It may of course be that people who have a naturally aggressive personality feel more able to express this with the confidence that comes with an enlarged physique and increased strength.
Heart Disease: Steroids are known to alter the levels of lipoprotein/cholesterol in the body and the link between high cholesterol levels and heart attacks is now well established. There are of course many other contributory factors that lead to heart disease so the effect of steroids would only be one of a number of elements leading to the same. It would obviously be prudent for any person with existing high cholesterol levels never to risk using steroids. As with possible liver damage steroids taken orally seem to present a higher incidence of an increase in cholesterol levels than those that are injected.
So if you are looking for that massive muscular ripped look think long and hard about steroid side effects and take specialised medical advice first
