| It's Your Dentist, Not Your Doctor, Who Could Fix Your Headache |
By:

All our ailments, from headaches and migraines to the pain behind our eyes, sinus, and even neck and shoulder pain warrant a trip to the doctors. Yet, your dentist is probably just what you need to give you that pain relief that you've been longing for. According to dentists in Denton, headaches are often classic symptoms of poor dental occlusion-the way your teeth meet when your jaw bites together. Instead of popping a pain killer or a paracetamol, or perhaps even visiting your doctor, you need to visit your dentist first. That's because harmonizing your teeth and jaw joints could affect more than just your smile.
A dentist in Denton said that several dental technologies have been developed to detect symptoms associated with inferior dental occlusion. "There are treatment and assessment methods that have been developed. Some oral care experts even use a Doppler Ultrasound machine to analyze jaw joints so they can efficiently diagnose problems that concerns a patient's jaw bite," the Dental Denton dentist said. This, he added, leads to the correction of many of the symptoms associated with misalignment of a bite. It also helps establish a baseline for long-term dental health.
A dentist in Flower Mound said that if your jaw is in the wrong position, your jaw muscles would have to work harder to compensate. This often causes muscle spasm, which can lead to continual headaches, sinus pain, and aches in your neck and shoulders. "Problems concerning your jaw bite can result not only in referred pain such as headaches but also lead to serious, long-term dental problems," the dentist said.
Dentists in Flower Mound pointed out that problems with regard to the way your teeth meet when your jaw bites together can cause tooth misalignment. They can also break and fracture your teeth, as well as create gum problems. Your teeth could also wear off through grinding (particularly at night). "You get toothaches with no obvious cause. Your teeth become sensitive and you experience difficulties in opening and closing your mouth," a dentist said. "If these become undiagnosed, you might end up going to the dentist more often and incur expensive medical and dental bills."
Dentists in Lewisville said that most people who suffer from incorrect occlusion don't know that they are suffering from it as a result of an incorrect bite. "It just continues to worsen," one of the dentists said. He pointed out that technological advancements in dentistry have allowed dentists to employ certain procedures and use dental tools that cold help them re-establish healthy dental occlusion and the long-term dental health of patients. Some of these include the bite appliance therapy, a temporary soft night guard or hard plastic mouth guard that fits over the top or bottom teeth to avoid grinding and wearing down of the teeth; and a teeth adjustment procedure, in which the position and shape of the teeth can be carefully adjusted to create harmony when the teeth meet together; the replacement of teeth, in which missing teeth are replaced with dental implants, a denture or bridgework to correct a bite.
